If I want someone to know that I care about them in any setting, these are the questions I’d ask:
How are you?
Is there anything I can do to make your life easier?
Why was your day amazing? What made your day not so great?
What are the biggest barriers in your way right now?
What is the most exciting thing going on in your world right now?
I would start with questions, because those who truly care about those around them should never make assumptions. Instead, they should start from a place of seeking to understand or curiosity about what the other person needs/wants.
We should go deeper to understand if there is anything we can personally do to help them or guide them to a better path.
When we start from a place of curiosity, we are in a better place than if we never ask the questions and make assumptions.

If you lean into seeking to understand their unique experiences or point of view, they will feel heard by you. That will put you light years ahead of anyone else in their circle.
