Renee Funk is no stranger to how changing your words can change your world. Since joining the EWTS movement, she has shared a number of her own favorite Simple Swaps for your internal dialog, to get over those moments of limiting self-belief.
Please note: Renee refers to these as Real Estate Simple Swaps, but they could apply well beyond the profession and branch out into your personal life, regardless of the industry you are in!
1. Busy vs Productive
Instead of saying: ‘I’m busy’, try saying: ‘I’m productive’ or ‘I’ve been very productive lately.’ This is a sure-fire way to put you into a growth mindset instantly – and your conversations with others will be better for it!
2. Harder vs More Diligently
Let’s be honest – telling yourself that you need to ‘work harder’ does nothing except create unnecessary pressure. Try asking yourself: ‘How can I work more diligently?’ to open up a space in your mind for curiosity and growth.
3. Pick Your Brain vs Collaboration
If the phrase: ‘Can I pick your brain?’ makes your skin crawl, there’s a reason for that. It’s because the wording feels invasive. Instead, try asking your team: ‘Would you be open-minded to collaborating on a project?’ This creates room for shared ideas instead of feeling like a command to the other person, making for better communication all around.
