If you’re a successful team leader, then you’re probably always getting people asking to join your team. But with every new applicant, it’s really difficult to know if that person is going to be the right fit for your organization.
The usual response might be to ask: ‘Tell me about yourself.’
But this doesn’t tell you everything that you need to know. There’s a simple way that you can go one better.
Instead of saying ‘Tell me about yourself,’ ask them this: ‘What does team mean to you?’
By asking the right question, you will gain way more information and understanding about your applicant. And, more importantly, how they can fit into your current team.
