Change your words. Change your world.

Simple Swaps: What were you thinking?

Raising teenagers isn’t a walk in the park. It can be difficult to strike a balance between guiding them to better decisions, and leaving space for your teens to form their own logic and opinions.

Instead of asking them: ‘What were you thinking?’, try putting the ball in their court by saying: ‘Help me understand what you were thinking.’

This way, your adolescents are not on the defence; they instead have a chance to explain their thought patterns and give you a clear window into how you can guide them to make better choices.

Watch Dr Jen’s video explaining how to apply this.
