How to Play
There are numerous ways to play with the cards, and you’re encouraged to be creative. To get you started, the following is one suggested way to begin your roleplay journey.
Setting Up the Game
1
Player setup
- Gather one or more players. Ideally, the game works best with five players or fewer to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to participate.
- Designate a starting player. Turns will proceed clockwise.
2
Card Placement
- Place the decks of cards—White Cards (Magic Phrases), Black Cards (Real-Life Scenarios), and Orange Cards (Categories)—face down in the center of the playing area. Ensure accessibility for all players.
Initiating the Game
3
Card Revelation
- Commence the game by revealing four White Cards to all players. These cards feature magic phrases from Phil M Jones' "Exactly What to Say" book, forming the foundation for persuasive responses.
4
Creating a Situation
- The first player selects an Orange Card (Category) and a Black Card (Real-Life Scenario), forming a unique situation. For example, an "Open House" scenario paired with an objection from the Black Objections Deck.
5
Providing Context
- The player who revealed the cards uses their imagination to set the stage, prompting other team members to consider additional factors. Questions like buyer or seller involvement, client relationship duration, and current market conditions add depth.
Addressing Objections
6
Player Participation
- Players take turns addressing the objection, utilizing the four persuasive Magic Word phrases displayed on the table.
- Players can also incorporate market trends, emphasize property features, or propose customized solutions using other familiar Magic Word phrases.
- Collaboration is encouraged. If a player is stuck, others can suggest or repeat Magic Word phrases to keep the conversation flowing.
Continuing the Game
7
Card Rotation
- After all players respond, flip a new Scenario Card, creating a fresh situation. Repeat the process, ensuring variety and continuous engagement.
8
Magic Word Card Renewal
- Deal a new set of four Magic Word Cards once all White Cards have been used. This ensures ongoing challenges and skill development.
Feedback and Improvement
9
Feedback Session
- After several rounds, initiate a feedback session. The team leader or fellow players offer constructive feedback, suggesting improvements and strategies.
- Encourage open discussions on effective persuasion techniques and share insights gained during gameplay.
A few alternative gameplay options with a group or by yourself
Option 1:
- Spread out all the Orange Cards (Categories).
- Choose one category (e.g., Open House, Expired, Past Clients, etc).
- Separate the Black Cards (Scenarios) that coordinate with the chosen category and play out those scenarios with the magic phrases.
- Rotate the use of White Cards (Magic Phrases) as noted in the main rules.
Option 2:
- Pull one of the white cards.
- Stick to that phrase for the entire week. Over-exaggeration of the phrase wherever you can use it is a good thing.
- Switch to a new white card for the next week and continue this process until you have used each magic phrase.
Option 3:
- Select one Black Card (Scenarios).
- Practice with every single one of the White Cards (Magic Phrases) as you can for that scenario.
