YouTube has emerged as a powerful platform for Realtors to showcase their expertise, connect with potential clients, and generate business. Drawing from my experience running a successful YouTube channel, here are five key considerations for Realtors looking to establish a strong presence on the platform:
1
Audience Focus
Identify a niche audience segment and tailor your content to address their specific needs and interests. By creating targeted videos that resonate with your audience, you can establish yourself as a trusted authority in your field and attract viewers who are genuinely interested in your offerings. Your audience needs to relate to everything including your YouTube branding, video content is one of them, but your channel banner is another way to showcase your Audience Focus.
2
Consistent Content
Consistency is key to building a loyal audience (more subscribers!) on YouTube. Commit to posting regular content, such as one video per week, to keep your viewers engaged and coming back for more. This is also part of YouTube’s algorithm. They want to see consistent content that is being watched. Ensure that your videos are being watched and adjust the type of content you film based on that. Additionally, build up a library of videos by filming multiple videos in advance (batch filming), allowing you to maintain a consistent posting schedule even during busy periods.
3
Strategic Research
Conduct thorough research to identify relevant keywords and topics that align with your audience’s interests and search behaviors. Use online tools and platforms to gather insights into popular search queries and trending topics and incorporate these insights into your content strategy to maximize reach and visibility. It’s also important to do this to build traction as your channel needs to build authority. Make sure not to use keywords that are searched over 1000/month until you’ve built up authority.
4
Authenticity
Be true to yourself and let your personality shine through in your videos. Showcase YOU, YouTube is a great platform to give you the opportunity for viewers to get to know you before meeting you. Authenticity is key to building rapport with your audience and fostering genuine connections. Embrace your unique style and voice, and don’t be afraid to show your personality, quirks, and imperfections. If you don’t normally wear a suit, don’t wear one! Be professional but represent yourself the way people would normally interact with you.
Don’t forget you are attracting future clients so it’s even better they know how you deliver information, and you are building up rapport through the information you are giving them. This is the key to attracting your ideal audience as they will want to work with who they have been watching.
Be prepared for haters and be ok to ignore them, the ones that like you will be the ones that will reach out and will be SO great to work with!
5
Content Quality
While high-quality equipment can enhance the production value of your videos, focus on delivering valuable content that resonates with your audience.
Fun fact: most of my videos are filmed with my iPhone X! However, invest in a good microphone to ensure clear audio quality, but prioritize substance over style.
Provide in-depth insights and actionable advice that demonstrate your expertise and add value to your viewers’ lives.
There are two types of YT channels, one that is highly produced, but the other YouTube channel is the one that is high in content – bringing value to the viewer because you are giving good information! Don’t forget this will require at least 5 minutes of video to give quality because you are going in depth, people are searching YouTube to learn. If you take your role as an educator, you will be able to garner clients.
There are so many more things to do when building a YouTube channel, but this is a good foundational start!
By following these foundational principles, Realtors can create a compelling YouTube channel that attracts viewers, builds credibility, and ultimately drives business growth.
