Growing in conversational excellence
We talk to driven professionals who love Exactly What to Say®. They’ve read the book, they use the Magic Words, and they’ve often attended a keynote or workshop.
They have the information, yet they still feel a gap between knowing the words and using them naturally when the pressure is on.
When people reach out to us about EWTS Coaching, they are usually trying to decide between another training seminar, a certification, or working 1-on-1 with a coach.
All three are good options. To help you decide what the right path is for you, here are the three questions we hear most often…and the answers that define what EWTS Coaching is really about.
1. "I’ve read the book. I want to get better. Should I get a coach or go to a training?"
This is the most common question.
The distinction between Training and Coaching is:
Training and certification are wonderful for immersion. They help you understand the frameworks, practice with peers, and see how language lands differently with different people.
Coaching, by contrast, helps you implement what you learned. It’s not about repeating scripts — it’s about helping you sound like your best self.
If you want to be taught EWTS by an expert, certification or guide training is the right path. If you want to use EWTS to get better results by focusing on your specific conversations, coaching is the most direct and efficient route.
Training gives you the ingredients for a great meal. Coaching helps make using those ingredients normal in your daily life.
2. "How long does it take? Do I have to commit for a year?"
Many people hesitate because they’ve been burned by coaching contracts that demand a 12-month commitment before they’ve seen a single result.
We look at coaching through two lenses: A Reason or A Season.
The Reason (3 Months): This is a sprint. You have a specific “$50,000 problem” you need to solve. Maybe you’re stepping into a new leadership role and need to nail the first 90 days. Maybe you have one specific conversational moment in your sales process where you always lose the deal. We spend three months hyper-focused on fixing that one “micro-moment” to get you an outsized result. Your coach helps you refine your approach, test the new strategy, and discover ways to gain momentum.
The Season (6–12 Months): This is for the long-term growth. This allows you to continue gaining mastery in the execution of your goals. You and your coach will help identify patterns that you weren’t aware of. And opportunities for even greater achievement – aligned with your goals. Here you see deeper transformation and sustained momentum.
We intentionally offer a 3-month engagement ($5,000 total) because we know that high-performers want to see efficiency and results without feeling trapped.
Three months creates measurable improvement. Six months builds mastery. Twelve months rewires how you think, listen, and lead.
3. "Will my coach just tell me what to do?"
This is a common misconception about hiring a coach—that you are hiring a boss or a consultant to hand you the “correct” answers. Especially because many people have experienced something called “coaching” that is more of a disciplinarian accountability partner reading from a script telling them what to do.
The answer is no.
Coaching isn’t about handing you a rigid script or a standard operating checklist. If it were that simple, reading the book would have been enough.
Instead, coaching is about helping you think through what actually matters. It is a space to experiment with new phrasing and notice what works best for your specific style and your specific clients.
You won’t leave a session with a generic “to-do” list. You will leave with practical next steps that you and your coach have shaped together. This ensures that when you walk into your next high-stakes conversation, the language you use feels authentic to you, not forced or robotic.
The Bottom Line
If you thrive in a classroom and want to learn alongside others, Exactly What to Say® Certification & Trainings are a fantastic experience.
But if you want a highly efficient, private, no-travel solution that focuses 100% on your specific challenges, EWTS Coaching is the answer.
It is 1-on-1 time with a certified coach, a successful businessperson in their own right, who helps you identify the key conversations that matter most in your role.
